Huapango "El Centro" for Full Orchestra
Publisher Desc.
A juxtaposition of 3/4 and 6/8 meters the clicks of dancers' heels (represented in percussion and cello finger taps) and fast runs and arpeggios are the hallmarks of this huapango. This piece originally written as a "signature" string piece for the Wilson Junior High School directed by Marissa Gohl in El Centro CA has now been expanded for full orchestra. The horn quartet "smears" are challenging but playable. Clarinets in A and Trumpets in C prove to be much more playable although parts in B-flat are provided.
