Concerto for Clarinet and Band, Op.43
Publisher Desc.
This concerto for Bb clarinet and concert band was composed in 1977 for
Professor Carl H.C. Anderson and the Jacksonville (AL) State University band
in 1977. BKJ Publications is proud to
release an engraved edition of this entertaining and very accessible
contemporary concerto which was previously available only in the composer's
manuscript on rental. The first movement is a motivic development of a bold
and dramatic tune. The second movement is a dark and mysterious song like
piece, and the third movement is in traditional rondo form featuring lots of
interplay between the soloist and all the sections of the band. The
concerto's duration is 17 minutes. It has been played many times and often
used as a senior showcase piece for collegiate clarinetists.
