Publisher Desc.  "Abschied der Gladiatoren" is a march Blankenburg wrote when he was eighteen, originally titling it Deutschlands Fuersten (Germany's Princes) . In 1904, he submitted it to Hawkes & Son for a march competition. Hawkes selected his march from over 500 submitted as first prize with the proviso the title could be changed to the present one. The march became very popular during Blankenburg's lifetime, and now can be enjoyed in this new edition by Marc Oliver.
