The Salvation Army
Publisher Desc.
This late Sousa march was written for the American Salvation Army Congress of 1930, held in New York. First performed to great acclaim before an audience of 7,000, it contains delightful Sousa touches such as a fabulous running bass line underpinning the much-loved 'Founder's Hymn' followed by a tremolando xylophone solo towards the end of the piece. This adaptation is based on the march's first recording in its Concert/Military Band format, made the same year by the Victor Band under Rosario Bourdon. Alternative clef parts are provided where necessary.
