Lost in Time and Space

Jonathan Norris - Jonathan Norris
Publisher Desc.  The entirety of this piece is based around the conversation between the piano player and the orchestra. The conversation between the piano and the orchestra is based around the pianos melodic content trying to find grounding in a melody. While the piano goes on this journey it will face many points of argument with the orchestra.Every entry of a string instrument is subtle point of interruption in the melodic journey. After the interruption the string players settle into the harmonicatmosphere, as the piano continues its melodic journey. As the piece continues the harmonic atmosphere builds with the layering of thestring instruments, each one bringing a new quiet interruption in the melodic journey. Further, the interruptions start to become larger and more frantic, fearing that the piano may finish its journey. Always moving to the end of the piece the strings swell larger and larger leaving an open ending to the melodic journey.
