O Sacred Head, Now Wounded
Performed at St. Peter's Basilica (Vatican-Rome) by the St. Louis Univ. High Orchestra directed by Mr. Jeff Pottinger. This daring and original treatment gives this classic medieval hymn a new and dramatic vitality. The piece is scored for medium standard orchestra with single winds, 2 horns, trumpet, trombone, strings and 2 percussionists (including timpani). Woodwinds, especially flute, are featured. The mood of the piece is generally somber but with bursts of emotion at the most emotional and poignant times. Useful for both Christmas and Easter performances. Meaningful!
