Woozy Dude Blues, The

Texas composer/arranger Paul Baker has written a wonderful 12-bar blues chart that he considers a pre-cursor to Thad Jones' Tiptoe. Like Thad's masterpiece, it's the story of a rather tipsy guy trying to sneak back into his house without waking up his wife. This chart for better bands features great ensemble passages, a strong sax soli and a powerful shout chorus. The trumpet range is to a written high D and changes are provided for alto, tenor, trumpet and trombone.
