This choral setting is based on a text written by Matthew Henry an 18th Century Presbyterian Minister. The text was found after his death in 1714 and thus the setting for this work is a departed soul looking back to Earth where others are grieving over his / her death. The composition is divided into two parts. In the first section the departed implores those left behind not to be sorrowful for he has lived a good life and has gone on to a better place. The second section (starts at measure 39) is a prayer to the Almighty to grant peace to those left behind.
