VP Method overview
VP Method is a carefully constructed sequence of pieces and activities that ensures
that young violinists will develop a comprehensive set of physical, aural and musical
skills. Students play along with the step-by-step Guided Practice Videos which
encourages them to practice longer with greater efficiency and better results.
This companion book is a collection of all the Violin Practice Method Student
Practice Pages for this level, outlining a weekly home practice plan. Each activity
corresponds to a guided practice video that includes in-depth instructions from the
authors along with models of posture, sound, intonation, tempo and musicianship
for students to see and hear.
VP Method LEVEL A1
Level A1 starts the young beginner with plucking songs over the octave harmonic
and ends with the Twinkle Theme.
VP Method LEVEL A2
Level A2 is a set of Folk Songs in A and D Major where the students develop the
martelé, détaché and legato strokes with an understanding of bow distribution
from the frog to the tip, left-hand frame and facility.
VP Method LEVEL B1
Level B1 expands the finger patterns (low 2, high 3), speed, length and variety of
songs and includes exercises that prepare for shifting, vibrato and spiccato.
