This piece is written in a way that the saxophones are against each other most of the time. It is made of three separate themes that act as separate statements in a kind of musical argument that mix together throughout the piece. The objective here is to go against the other players, yet stay as a musically cohesive unit. The fast sections utitlize a Bossa Nova style. The slower more lyrical section represents a temporary truce. Then the saxophones egos get in the way again and the peace is shattered, presented as two rounds of two of the themes. Then the whole fight starts all over again. Even if the piece ends, is it truly over?
