Night-Time in New York is written to represent strolling around in the
late evening of the fine city of New York. It is in a blue waltz style
written for 6 C flutes. Flutes 1 and 2 have the biggest range (Top G a few of
times). Flutes 3- 6 do not have a big range and the whole piece is suitable
for mixed abilities.
It has 3 sections before returning to the opening them once more at the
end-then small coda. I wanted to give young flutists a taste for some bluesy
ideas. It is 3 mins 40 in length.
I have set it at medium easy level, but the whole score is on the Youtube
link below for you to assess suitability.
Should work well for concerts, contests, recitals, productions, even has a
"Christmas tint". It is something perhaps a little different for
the repertoire.
