Martin Schröder studied music and history at the University of Music and Drama in Rostock. He is a music and piano teacher, music copyist and arranger. He is a former member of celebrated and multi-awarded chamber choir Vocalisti Rostochienses and singer and keyboarder in several pop and rock ensembles. His musical focus lies on folk and traditional Scottish music as well as shanty and sea songs.
