The highlights of Saint-Sans oeuvre are the Organ Symphony (1866) and the opera Samson et Dalila (1877). With its familiar story and many stretches of vigorous and appealing music Samson et Dalila has never been long away from the stages of principal opera-houses. The aria 'Mon cur s'ouvre ta voix' is a very popular mezzo-soprano aria from the opera, known in English as 'Softly awakes my heart', or more literally 'My heart opens itself to your voice'. It is sung by Dalila in act 2 as she attempts to seduce Samson into revealing the secret of his strength.
