Original music composed by Timothy A. Helisek set to the text of the Lux
Aeterna which may be sung as part of a Requiem (Funeral) Mass or programmed
as part of a regular performance.
About the piece, the composer writes: "When my mother-in-law passed
away, I wanted to create a piece of music that reflected the way that I felt.
The piece was to convey beauty, hope and subtle joy, while at the same time
an underlying tone of sadness. I chose the text of the Lux Aeterna because it
was a perfect match for these emotions. 'May eternal light shine upon them,
Grant them rest.'"
It is sung in Latin:
Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Translation:
May light eternal shine upon them, O Lord, with Thy saints forever.
Eternal rest give to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
