John W. Schaum Adult Piano Course

This method, first published in 1946, is particularly appropriate for older-timers who enjoy the songs of yesteryear. Book 1 of the John W. Schaum Adult Piano Course takes the student from the early to the late elementary level, includes fundamentals for the beginning player and pieces with which to apply them. Folk songs, arrangements of familiar tunes and classics, and originals by the author are included. Also included at the end of each book is a one-page music dictionary. Through the first half of Book 1, students play from the early elementary to elementary level in middle C position, starting with one-handed tunes  on the grand staff.  Then the hands move to various other positions (including C Major position) as the student plays pieces in C, G, and F Major and progresses to the late elementary level.  Book 2 moves the student from the late elementary to the early intermediate level and Book 3 to the intermediate level. Fingerings are offered liberally throughout all levels.
