Handel in the Strand

What an impressive lineup!  With Grainger, Sousa, Brion and Schissel, it's a combination that's hard to beat!  This light-hearted composition by Percy Grainger is inspired by the notion of Handel's classical style getting tangled up with the English equivalent of Broadway, the Strand.  John Philip Sousa arranged the work for his concert performances, and this setting makes the Sousa version playable by modern day concert bands.  In addition to enjoying this absolutely charming music, you'll be fascinated by the correspondence between Sousa and Grainger and Brion and Schissel's well-researched notes on rehearsal and performance included with the score.
