This concert gospel selection explores the connection between Dvorak's "New World" symphony theme and its spiritual roots, which were directly influenced by his interaction with Harry T. Burleigh. The theme was later adapted by Dvorak's student William Arms Fisher, who added text and gave it a spiritual-like setting. Opening with a quote from Deep River, this arrangement continues the heavenly theme with a gospel style that gradually builds in intensity as only Dilworth can. Powerful!
