A flowing melody with simple (yet intricate) textures describes how, as children, we chase fireflies in the back yard. As we grow older, this song encourages us to chase our dreams in the same manner. The middle aleatoric section provides a chance for young singers to experience the joy of singing music that will be different each time it is performed. Written with the changing voice in mind, the baritones range is in the F3-C4 range, while the sopranos and altos enjoy playful "dashing through the backyard." The treble ranges are between Bb3-E5 allowing young voices to find success in their most suitable tessitura.
