Beginning with a tympanic heartbeat underscoring dissonant tones played by different sections of the band, the opening refrains represent hotspots of global tension. The pressured low tones of the brass and dissonance help us to imagine the depths of pain experienced by people in turmoil, and the lighter flag waves of the woodwinds bespeak their dreams. Marching tones after that portray further conflict, yet we can hear towards the end the softening sounds of the continuing process of peace. As Jimi Hendrix so aptly put it; "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
