The Roman Carnival Overture by Hector Berlioz was composed in 1844 after he spent 15 months in residency in Italy for the Paris Conservatory. It is made up of material from his opera "Benvenuto Cellini," and features a prominent and famous solo for the English horn. The band transcription has been transposed a half-step higher from the original orchestral version in order for the key to be "band friendly." A full score and parts are provided; however, it may not be compatible with any previous orchestrations, for I have corrected as many errors as possible, and have rewritten certain sections of the composition; these as well as the transposition.
