The first variation is in triple meter and features the piccolo, flute, and bass clarinet on the melody. The second variation is introduced by a snippet of Ring, Ring the Banjo. A banjo-like accompaniment enters and can be heard throughout the variation. The piece is accessible by most intermediate level performers and is well-suited to school or community ensembles.
