Two Movements from Quarantine
Publisher Desc.
Two Movements from Quarantine, nicknamed the "Quarantine
Quartet," was written in March and April of 2020, when schools were
closed and we all went into isolation. As a composer, I knew I had to leave
my mark on such a historical event. This piece was based off of the chaos,
confusion, fear, and sadness of the events of 2020.
Andante is a slow and dissonant elegy, which was inspired by an evening
walk down an empty street. The movement takes a turn halfway through, where a
bright tune, the length it takes to wash your hands, is introduced. The
Scherzo is a fast, energetic movement, and was inspired by the energy built
up from being forced to stay inside for days on end.
