The Typewriter
This Leroy Anderson favorite has been called "one of the wittiest and most clever pieces in the orchestral repertoire" and was written to include a physical typewriter as a solo percussion instrument! This makes it perfect for handbells. It is mostly malleted throughout, with rung notes nicely placed for contrast. It is scored with "stems up" and "stems down" indicating suggested assignments, but quartets should feel free to adapt both assignments and tempo to suit their own group.
