Sim Shalom
Publisher Desc.
Sim Shalom is a solemn Hebrew prayer in D minor accompanied by piano or
organ. It is ideal for a worship setting and has often been used for that
purpose, though the lyrical choral refrain and soprano/tenor solos can work
well for any choir that would prefer to focus on just a few phrases of Hebrew
text.
The Sim Shalom prayer is recited or sung at the end of the Amidah, a
central part of the Jewish worship service. The English translation is as
follows:
Grant peace, goodness and blessing, grace, kindness and mercy,
to us and to all Your people Israel.
Bless us, our Creator, all of us together, through the light of Your
Presence. Truly through the light of Your Presence, Adonai our God,
You gave us a Torah of life A
the love of kindness, justice and blessing, mercy, life, and peace.
May You see fit to bless Your people Israel at all times, at every hour,
with Your peace.
