Romp for "Celebrity" Triangulist and Orchestra
Publisher Desc.
Romp is a comical piece with a sense of humor but with seriously orchestrated music. Perform it honoring someone, paying tribute to someone, or as a fundraiser featuring a "celebrity." A close family friend, a pediatric allergist and not a musician at all, used to always teasingly say to me when leaving our home, "Let me know if you need a good triangle player." Well, the time seemed right for me to compose the piece when the doctor's sister-in-law was going to be the featured soloist with our orchestra. I sat down and sketched it out, orchestrated it and gave it out to our community orchestra while tinkering with it' until the premiere that May. Dr. James P. Rosen practiced his part for hours (really). Our rehearsals were laugh-out-loud funny because of our antics together, to the point where orchestra members could not keep their instruments in their mouths or their bows on the strings. A good time was had by all, as you can hear in the live recording on www.cmpub.com.
