Count Basie is a household name among big band leaders. Born in Red Bank,
New Jersey, in 1904, he had one of the most successful swing bands in
history. This piece is dedicated to him and his lifetime achievement of
swing music.
Red Bank Shuffle begins with each horn section making a 4-bar statement,
then joining forces setting up the introduction of the rhythm section. The
solo section is open to tenor sax, guitar, and piano.
Graded "Medium Advanced" due to the trumpet ranges. Keep an ear
open for two short quotes from Basie's
"One O'Clock Jump".
