Missa In G

Johann Gottlieb Naumann/ed. Klaus Winkler - Helbling Verlagsgesellschaft m.b.h.

Johann Gottlieb Naumann came into contact with Johann Sebastian Bach in his younger years and worked at the court in Dresden as a composer and musician from 1786 until his death. His Mass in G is entirely in the tradition of the Dresden Court church style of the late 18th century drawn on the Italian models. In addition to the four-part string orchestra, temporary paired flutes, oboes, French horns, trumpets and timpani are used, too. Not least due to its beauty of sound and rich instrumentation, this is a festive Mass that is eminently suitable for liturgical practice on High Holy Days as well as for a concert performance. The editor, Klaus Winkler, has furnished a setting for mixed choir and organ/piano and has thus made this Mass accessible for congregations that do not have an orchestra at their disposal.
