Midnight Music in Three Movements
Publisher Desc.
This unique, simple, sophisticated arrangement for intermediate woodwind quintet will satisfy players and listeners alike. Modeled after film music, this arrangement explores three moods in three settings: I. Dark Forest, II. Mysterious Lullaby, III. Moody Moon of Summertime. The arrangement is 5'00" in total, yet any of the movements could work as a stand-alone piece for younger ensembles that require more rehearsal time, or for studio recitals and collage concerts that call for shorter featurettes. Although it is not explicitly a Halloween piece, it would fit perfectly into a Halloween theme concert, or any place where something mysterious and spooky is desired. All four members of the quartet will enjoy their parts, but the Bassoon player in your ensemble is the real star, with lots of groovy figures and independent melodic material. This arrangement comes complete with Optional Clarinet Sub. for Oboe and Bass Clarinet Sub. for Bassoon. Another option is to double all parts, creating an octet with four voices. This piece is appropriate for a more advanced middle school ensemble, (or equivalent intermediate ensemble), although even more advanced HS ensembles will be challenged and engaged musically.
