Publisher Desc.  This composition, in contrast to its predecessors within "The Cycle of Fugues for Woodwind Quintet," exudes a livelier, swifter, and more agile character. It introduces two primary themes that are explored in distinct ways. The first theme spans from the very beginning to nearly the midpoint of the piece, at which point a new theme emerges with even more spirited passages than its predecessor. This fugue presents a notably higher level of difficulty compared to the preceding pieces, particularly for the horn player, who must navigate through challenging low and rapid passages.
