First Nation portrays the expansive American landscape in a time before European settlement. The highlights included a through-composed structure set in a distinctive minor mood. It features a contemporary flavor and is accessible for improvisation by as many players as desired. Scored for three horns and rhythm, it includes mix-and-match horn parts for all saxophones, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and French horn. Rhythm section parts are notated as needed.
