Publisher Desc.  Blues for Grandpa Joe is the second movement of Third Place, a new work forthcoming in 2020. This suite pays tribute to the late Robert 'Joe' Welden (1925-2020), a beloved musician and artist from the composer's hometown of Montrose, Pennsylvania. This upbeat, original blues tune was inspired by Joe Welden's own chart, "Vegetarian Blues". Written in 12-bar blues form, this unique work for symphonic band will bring the excitement and energy of jazz to the concert hall this concert season!
