Publisher Desc.  In the early 1900's in the big thicket of S.E. Texas, oil was discovered near Batson, Texas. Population grew from a few hundred up to over 10,000. A road was needed between Saratoga and Batson, so pine logs were laid side by side to form this "Corduroy Road".
