As All the Heavens Were a Bell
This immensely moving work was premiered at an emotional performance for the firefighters of Manhattan in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The composition opens with a striking brass fanfare and woodwind flourishes. After a sensitive treatment of the tune America, the strife of a nation in turmoil is depicted through intense themes which eventually evolve into a unified tutti statement that is truly magnificent. The optional choral parts are included with the set (qty. 40) and are cued in the instrumental parts, allowing for flexible options.
