Alexander's Ragtime Band is one of Irving Berlin's earliest creations; it has stood the test of time and can still be heard in music venues throughout the world. Peter Blair has created a fresh, swinging chart with young jazz musicians in mind that captures the heart of this Berlin classic. There are no solos, and it features lots of solid ensemble passages as well as a very nice sax soli section. Scored for five saxes, three trumpets, two trombones, piano, guitar, bass, and drums, with optional parts for flute, clarinet, horn in F and tuba. Nice!
