Winter
Publisher Desc.
Winter is a tone poem that crafts an image of the cold and icy qualities that winter offers. This piece begins with a looming snowstorm in the distance, with snowflakes starting to fall until the snowstorm arrives with a fierce cacophony of whirling melodies, brass calls, and percussion. As the snowstorm eases up, we are reintroduced to previous themes from before the storm's arrival, as well as a "snowfall" motive being played by flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, bassoon, and vibraphone soloists. The piece ends in major, representing a glimpse into the coming spring. This is a piece that you will want to have on your upcoming concert program!
