Based on COVENTRY CAROL, this dynamic setting opens with dramatic piano and women on "oo." SATB voices enter unaccompanied with the Christmas verse. The piano returns with the women for verse 2, whose transition to "oo" marks the return of the men and then the whole choir. The piano swells and then the choir enters quietly, only to build to a climax for the resurrection text which closes the piece.
