Tenebrae
Tenebrae is a service of shadows, depicting the final hours of Christ's life on earth. In this work by the same name, Sorenson has designed this deeply symbolic service for your congregation and choir. Based on the ancient tradition of Tenebrae, the gradual extinguishing of candles produces increased shadows and ultimately darkness by the end of the service, symbolizing Christ's death. With the inclusion of the optional Lord's Supper, this is a complete 60-minute service that includes three choral anthems, instrumental duets, litanies, underscores, and full worship leader notes. Accompanied by piano and cello, this work promises to be one of the most poignant, meaningful services your congregation will experience during Holy Week.
