Step, Skip & Repeat: Basic Patterns for Note Reading
This exceptional two-volume reading course is designed to enable students of all ages to read music using the three basic patterns of step, skip, and repeat. It can serve as the primary method or a supplementary book and is particularly effective with students that need some extra care and reinforcement at the earliest stages of reading from the grand staff. The entire course consists of over 100 melodic etudes in various hand positions which progress by a series of small, carefully planned learning tasks. Book One offers early elementary exercises of four to eight measures, laid out in larger print. One note is played at a time in Book One. Book Two is written at the elementary level and includes hands-together playing at the octave, third, or sixth. Besides very simple etudes, the last chapter of Book Two contains twelve folk songs from around the world.
