Skyscrapers and Jazz
Publisher Desc.
Skyscrapers and Jazz is a classical-jazz fusion written for Concert Band. It consists of three medium sized works all with their own unique themes, musical ideas and soloist parts. Skyscrapers and Jazz combines the instrumentation of Concert Band and the themes of jazz music to create an entirely unique music identity. The first song: City at Night is written to represent the busyness of a city at night. The second song: Walking Down the Street was written to represent the liveliness of a city by just walking down the street. The third song: Nighthawks is based on a painting by Edward Hopper that uses late night jazz music to create a slow night at a diner. All works in Skyscrapers and Jazz are based on a city theme and are specifically meant to sound like a city.
