Nimrod

(From "Enigma Variations")
Elgar, Edward /arr. Brant Karrick - Karrick Custom Music
Publisher Desc.  Among the most beautiful and stately melodies in all of the symphonic literature, Nimrod is the famous emotional highpoint of Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations. In it Elgar produced a piece which has found many uses in occasions of a solemn nature. Maintaining the musical integrity created by Elgar, this new arrangement, scored in Bb, keeps the instruments in their best registers allowing for maximum control and beauty of tone. Brass ranges are limited and the 2nd clarinet part does not cross the break. Elgar composed the Enigma Variations between October 1898 and February 1899. It is an orchestral work comprising 14 variations on an original theme. He dedicated the work "to my friends pictured within", with each variation being a musical sketch of one of his circle of closest acquaintances.
