Publisher Desc.  On May 24, 2022, a gunman armed with an AR-15 entered Robb elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and killed 19 children and two teachers. One of those victims was 10-year-old Maite Rodriguez. A lover of animals and the environment, sheAd dreamed of becoming a marine biologist, and often wore a pair of green high-top Converse shoes with a heart drawn on the toe of the right shoe. Because of the damage such a weapon of war causes, the shoes turned out to be the only clear evidence that could identify her after the shooting. A charming and moving work for band, this piece is dedicated to all the victims, but especially the children whose lives were taken almost before they began.
