Evening Breeze
Publisher Desc.
Evening Breeze is a lyrical piece for beginning band that uses only seven
pitches. The piece begins immediately with the A theme performed by the
woodwinds and percussion. Keep each quarter note light and sustain for the
full duration. The full band joins the A theme at measure 9. Keep this
section balanced, light, and smooth.
The B theme begins at measure 17. Different voices in the band take turns
playing the melody against the bass line. Have the bass line play their part
out during any moving part in this section.
At measure 33, the A theme returns in the woodwinds. The full band performs
the A theme again at measure 41, but then crescendos to the climax of the
piece at measure 48. Make this crescendo dramatic and exaggerated. The piece
then fades away until the final fermata.
