Ebony gorge
Publisher Desc.
iEbony Gorgei is an inspiration of the two trips to West Africa that
Mr. Robinson took his youth orchestra students. Vendors in the towns sold handcrafted wood
carvings. Some of the carvings were
made of high-quality wood called, iebony.i A lot of the high-quality
furniture is made of ebony. There was
a town in Ghana that specialized in bedroom, living room, and dining room
furniture. It lined the streets for
all to see for those wishing to purchase some. The quality was so great that in the U.S.
this furniture would be sold in the high-end department stores (like
Macyis) and other stores. Imagine
iEbony Gorgei being a large forest (rolling hills of forestry) full of
trees growing ebony wood. Note: The 3rd violin part can be used in absence
of violas or if there are not enough of them to balance the orchestra. The double bass part could be played by a
cellist or two (or more) especially if there is a shortage of basses.
