Easter, 1906
Based on the dramatic events in Springfield, Missouri, Easter, 1906 tells the true story of the lynching of three Black men in the town square on Easter Sunday, 1906. This horrific story is just one of thousands from the Civil War through the first decades of the 20th century. It is intended to be a cautionary reminder of the profound evil that can arise from unchecked racism and mob violence. The 16-movement work is scored for double choir with soloists, spoken narration, piano four hands, and two percussionists. Duration: c. 50 minutes.
