Dialogue for Oboe & Viola
Publisher Desc.
Kubik composed his Divertimento No. 2 in the late 1950s, completing it in 1958. The work is scored for a diverse ensemble of eight instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, viola, and piano. The Dialogue for Oboe and Viola is the fourth and penultimate movement of this work. The entire Divertimento No. 2 is rarely performed, and it seemed a shame that this duo was not available for performance on recitals as a separate piece. I would like to thank Dr. Kelli Rylance, current Director of the Morse Special Collections Division of Kansas State University Librariy and Dr. David Allen, past Director, for their assistance in gaining permission for this piece to be published.
