A Rhyme in Time
This practical assortment of rhythm, speech and improvisation activities for the classroom uses both familiar and lesser-known rhymes from diverse cultures. Each rhyme is presented with many helpful ideas on how to enhance your students' musical experience through movement, variation, and interesting cross-curricular references. Activities include speaking the text in a variety of tones, changing the text, adding coordinated gestures, performing the rhythm on body parts or percussion, and many other variants which build a strong foundation in rhythm, form and language. There are 17 rhymes in all, including the popular One-Two, Tie My Shoe; Wee Willie Winkie; Pease Porridge Hot; Peter Piper and Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater. PreK-Grade 6.
