Daniel Gawthrop's This Joyous Day is a superb Easter anthem based on a text by Edmund Spencer. The composer's great attention to the text draws out the exultation found within the celebration of the season. The instrumental parts call for three trumpets in C, two trombones, tuba, timpani and percussion. This festive piece was commissioned for All Saints' Church in Atlanta, Georgia, Raymond and Elizabeth Chenault, organists and choirmasters.
