Patterns and Positions was created to help intermediate string students gain familiarity with shifting and the upper positions while reinforcing the concepts of key structure and purity of intonation. The material relies upon an understanding of the concept of "finger patterns" as pioneered by Dr. George Bornoff. Each section presents pattern concepts in various keys, and chorales are provided in each key to encourage vertical listening, pure intonation, tone quality, and musical awareness.
