As the Sun Sets
Publisher Desc.
As part of the completion of my doctorate, I was required to write multiple recitals of music which gave me the opportunity to explore numerous different same instrument ensembles. One of these pieces was As the Sun Sets for saxophone choir. With the request for a ballad and the sound and style of my good friend, Bob Fuson, in mind, I set out to write a piece that incorporates elements of jazz. As the Sun Sets was premiered by the University of Nebraska saxophone choir with the composer guest conducting. The version for trombone solo with trombone choir was created for and premiered by Joseph Alessi with the Louisiana State University trombone choir with the composer guest conducting.
