Alley Cat
Known for having a toe-tapping rhythm and infectious melody, this instrumental tune has been performed by many pop recording greats since the 1960s. In this delightful arrangement, the melody is mainly rung in the treble clef accompanied by malleted accompaniment in the bass and treble fives. It should be noted that the treble melody features eighth notes and eighth rests to be rung and damped – not ring touches or thumb damps. Nicely placed handchimes (two octaves) in a few places, plus the addition of pizzicato bass and basic drum set round this out into an instant audience pleaser!
